“I am a painter, a designer, a Part II architect and I take photographs. Capturing the soul and magic of the west and my experiences of place is what motivates me the most throughout all the work that I do.”
” Architecture is my passion. I am enthralled by how people use spaces. It is my fundamental wish to provide people with buildings purposely built for their use. I design for the user. I think of their abilities, needs, feelings and mood. When I design a space it has to be purposeful. I am practical in my thinking and the needs of the user are at the forefront to my designs.
Over the years, having worked abroad, I have come to learn that use, not function is important when designing spaces. It is important to differentiate between these.
It is my opinion that great works of architecture enhances the quality of our everyday lives. I am greatly inspired by historic buildings in particular those in the rural Irish landscape. To me, making references to buildings before our time is necessary – only then, by studying these can we create not only better buildings and better public spaces but timeless works of architecture.

Regarding painting, I would consider myself to be mainly a landscape painter. My current series is of the West of Ireland and previous ones include parts of Switzerland. I enjoy painting with oils and watercolours and testing their possibilities.
