Fjord:

A long, narrow, deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs, as in Norway, typically formed by submergence of a glaciated valley. (oxford dictionaries)

This isn’t Norway. This Fjord exists in Connemara in the west of Ireland. It is an incredible sight which forms a natural partial border between Galway and Mayo. The paintings in my Connemara series are of places that inspire me. I stop, sketch and paint. That day at Killary, I was captivated by the light and the looming dramatic sky over the mountains. For me, it was important to capture the atmosphere.
